Our first meeting with Luba

Today, we finally arrived in Posnan. We met my new friend Victoria (whom I met via a Facebook post). As a volunteer, she tries to match Ukrainian families with host families.

We met in a coffee shop and talked about a family (one mom and her two kids) interested in going to France. After our talk, we went to a public park to meet Luna, the mom, and get to know each other.

The challenge is that she does not speak French or English. Likewise, Victoria does not speak Ukrainian, but they can 'communicate' by speaking in Polish.

Just imagine the scene - my dad, only speaking French, myself speaking French and English, Victoria speaking Polish and English, and Luba only speaking Ukrainian.

In 30 min, we have a conversation going through multiple translations, trying to convince a mother to believe that going to France with Bruno and her dad will be a great option.

During our conversation, we found out that her kids (a 13-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy) and does not have a driver's license. With these details in hand, we were already thinking about renting a different apartment so that she can do everything walking while her kids can go to the school walking as well!

My sister is already contacting many people about finding the perfect apartment in the perfect location.

Luba told us that she would be coming with us tomorrow. We scheduled our departure for 1 pm. To reassure her, we will first go with her to the Police station and have them take all our information. I want to show her that we have nothing to hide.

The real question is - will she really be there at 1 pm tomorrow?
